MEET THE FOUNDER

Gerardo Contino, Founder

Gerardo Contino founded Camino al Arte in New York City in 2015. Gerardo is a singer and the director of Los Habaneros NYC, an award-winning Cuban band, as well as a lead-singer for Grammy-award winning Larry Harlow and the Latin Legends as well as the Max Weinberg Orchestra. Gerardo has toured the world with his music and played on some of the biggest stages in the United States, Cuba, South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Gerardo founded Camino al Arte to bridge the gap between Black Latinx artists and communities with the arts and entertainment institutions of New York City and beyond. Since it’s inception in 2015, Camino al Arte has produced hundreds of events, taken music and the arts to universities across the United States, and provided opportunities for Black Latinx musicians, painters, photographers, dancers, and choreographers.

Gerardo is a board member of the National Council for the Traditional Arts.

Gerardo is a graduate of the University of Havana with a law degree and holds a Master's in Law from the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University, where he specialized in Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law.
